The Seminary Building started to be built in 1931. At first it was intended as a psychiatric hospital but the project was postponed due to the Civil war and was not resumed until 1950, when the architectural complex started to be specifically used as a Diocesan Seminary.
Seminary of Derio
Three independent buildings, connected to each other only at ground and main floor level made up what would eventually be known as the Seminary of Derio. For approximately 20 years, it stood out for its high academic and educational level, for the ideological debate and for its intellectual, philosophical, theological and human training.
1992 saw the start of a new phase of what is nowadays the Seminary building. A modern and functional architectural complex which is the result of an ambitious renovation plan which comprised both the structure as well as its uses. Due to this redesigning, the interior has had to undergo successive alterations so as to adapt to the times and to its new service needs.
